Our Year 1 Maths Games

Each game is designed by teachers and aligned to the Year 1 National Curriculum for Mathematics. Children can play as many times as they like — completely free, with no sign-up required.

Frame Frenzy — Number Bonds to 10

Ten frames are one of the most effective tools for teaching number bonds in Year 1. In Frame Frenzy, children see a ten frame filled with objects and must work out how many are shown or how many more are needed to make 10. This builds a strong foundation for addition and subtraction, helping children visualise number relationships. Choose from six Christmas-themed helpers — including an elf, Santa, and a snowman — to make practice feel like play.

  • Skills practised: number bonds to 10, subitising, counting on
  • 10 questions per round with instant feedback

Count-a-Saurus — Counting & Number Recognition

Counting is the cornerstone of Year 1 maths. Count-a-Saurus asks children to count groups of objects — from bees and frogs to strawberries and ice creams — and select the correct number. It reinforces one-to-one correspondence, helps children recognise quantities at a glance, and builds confidence with numbers up to 20. Six fun themes keep things fresh every time they play.

  • 6 themes: bees, frogs, strawberries, ice cream, birds, eggs

Bubble Blast — Addition & Subtraction

In Bubble Blast, children solve addition and subtraction questions and pop the bubble showing the correct answer. This game targets the Year 1 requirement to add and subtract one-digit and two-digit numbers to 20, including zero. The bubbles float and bounce, adding an element of fun that keeps children engaged while they practise essential arithmetic skills.

  • Interactive bubble-popping mechanic for engaging practice

Shape Safari — 2D & 3D Shapes

The Year 1 curriculum requires children to recognise and name common 2D and 3D shapes. Shape Safari presents shapes one at a time and asks children to identify them — from circles, squares, and triangles to cubes, spheres, and cylinders. It helps build geometric vocabulary and spatial awareness, which are essential building blocks for later work in geometry and measurement.

  • Skills practised: naming 2D shapes, recognising 3D shapes, geometric vocabulary
  • Covers circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, cubes, spheres, cylinders, and more

Tick Tock Challenge — Telling the Time

Telling the time is one of the trickiest topics for Year 1 children. Tick Tock Challenge shows an analogue clock face and asks children to read the time. Starting with o'clock and half past, it builds the foundation for reading quarter past, quarter to, and eventually minutes — skills they will need throughout KS1 and KS2. Repeated practice in a game format makes this tricky concept click.

  • Skills practised: reading o'clock, half past, analogue clock faces
  • Builds towards quarter past and quarter to in Year 2
