About Year 2 Adding within 100 Worksheets
Can your child add and subtract with numbers up to 100? These free Year 2 adding within 100 worksheets are a big step forward. Using base 10 blocks, column methods, and mental strategies, your child will develop the skills needed for confident two-digit arithmetic.
This week's five worksheets guide your child through addition and subtraction within 100. Starting with part-whole models and base 10 blocks, progressing to adding multiples of 10, then adding and subtracting ones across ten boundaries, and finishing with mixed calculations. Every worksheet includes fluency, word problems, and reasoning sections.
What's Inside Each Day
Day 1
Facts to 20 and base 10 blocks — your child revises facts to 20, uses base 10 blocks to subtract, and completes part-whole models for 20.
Day 2
Base 10 block addition — children add two-digit numbers using base 10 block pictures, and explore what happens when you add 10 to any number.
Day 3
Adding ones and subtracting from multiples of 10 — your child adds single digits to two-digit numbers and subtracts from multiples of 10 using column format.
Day 4
Adding and subtracting across 10 — children tackle calculations that bridge a ten (like 36 + 8 and 52 - 6) and explore fact families.
Day 5
Adding multiples of 10 — your child adds multiples of 10 to two-digit numbers, practises quick recall of bonds to 20, and solves multi-step word problems.
Skills Your Child Will Practise
- Adding and subtracting within 100
- Using base 10 blocks to visualise calculations
- Adding multiples of 10 to any two-digit number
- Bridging through 10 when adding and subtracting
- Understanding and using fact families
- Solving two-step word problems to 100
Top Tip for Parents
Base 10 blocks (or straws bundled in tens) are wonderful for making two-digit addition visible. If your child needs to add 46 + 3, lay out 4 ten-sticks and 6 ones, then add 3 more ones. They can see exactly what happens. You can make your own with pasta — bundle 10 pieces together with an elastic band!
